Legacy of Kain Wiki

It’s been a while and I keep meaning to do these more regularly. Since the last blog update the site has continued to rumble on and with a few interesting additions on the horizon I thought it best to update this now.

The main thrust of the last year has been the Defiance artifacts articles with the Category now completed, including finished articles for the Falcon Insignia, Malek's Shield, Malek's Sword, Decorative Sword, Ornamental Shield, Kain's Family Crest, Faceted Orb, Stone Disc, Bronze Disc, Howling Heartstone, Wheel of Life, Carved Stone Skull, Rusted Scales, Blood Drinker, Heart Seeker, Gold Half of Vorador's Crest, Silver Half of Vorador's Crest, Soul Stealer, Library Seal, Earth Globe, Sphere of Energy, Obsidian Sphere, Dark Scripture, Heart of Darkness (artifact) (the actual artifact not the BO1 relics) and the Golden Ouroboros. In Addition we’ve explored the secret item room "artifact1a" and the deleted items found within such as the Crimson Chalice of Evisceration, Mystical Gold Chalice, Blue Chalice and the mysterious Unused artifact.

In other area articles have been completed for several Blood Omen bits including Lupo the Butcher, Avernus, Grand Guignol, Wolves and the beginning of the Defiance enemy list in the Sarafan crusaders. Behind the scenes meanwhile there has been a major overhaul of the navigation of the site with a whole new Gallery system being organised and a Sources Archive introduced in an effort to show and preserve some of the background sources important to the history of the Legacy of Kain series.

Outside of the site it's been a rather quiet time for the franchise as a whole with few major updates to speak of. Crystal Dynamics notably celebrated their 25th Anniversary with a prolonged flurry of nostalgia which prominently featured Legacy of Kain along with some of their other. References had been frequent throughout but perhaps the highlight of the whole passage was a previously unseen pair of Blood Omen concept arts highlighting the development of the user interface and other early designs. Typically E3 was quiet on the LoK front - almost disappointingly so for SE which we know had a number of large non-LoK projects in the pipeline - but there was the comfort of the Square Enix player survey shortly after.

On other fan sites and community projects technical artist Francesco Abbonizio has discussed his work on Soul Reaver fan remake Soul Revenant with the Level Design Lobby guys, community guru 'the Hylden' has released a new render of Kain on his throne for the 19th anniversary of Soul Reaver and has set up a a Patreon page to support his ongoing projects and The Lost Worlds cut content site has become active again with a number of updates for Soul Spiral and other utilities to explore the games.

Keep an eye out for more updates in future and as ever follow us on Facebook for more immediate updates. Happy Editing! Baziel (talk) 22:43, October 30, 2018 (UTC)
