The Death Reaver enhancement was an augmentation for The Reaver that was planned to be used by Kain in Legacy of Kain: Defiance but was ultimately cut from the final game. Presumably created by the Ancient vampires, Kain would likely have gained this enhancement by acquiring a Death fragment of the Balance Emblem.

Profile[]

The Death enhancement was an upgrade for the Reaver that was intended for Kain to gain in early designs of Defiance. Following the pattern of the enhancements in the retail game, it is likely that the upgrade would have been gained from a Death fragment of the Balance Emblem in one of the deleted levels.[1]

The enhancement was believed to have been removed during early stages of development and consequently there is no known imagery of the blade and its effect in-game is unknown.[1]

Notes[]

  • It is known that Kain was to have gained further Reaver enhancements in early versions of Defiance and the listing of the present enhancements in the debug menu as "Conflict Pillar", "Dimension Pillar", "Energy Pillar" and "Time Pillar" indicates that the enhancements themselves were based on the Pillars of Nosgoth and implies heavily that the missing enhancements would have been based on the missing pillars, with the Death enhancement associated with the Pillar of Death.[1]
  • Unlike missing enhancements in previous titles, the enhancements for the Death, Mind, Nature and States Pillars are not present in the debug menu in the retail game and therefore their appearance and abilities are not known.[1]
  • The status of the Death fragment and enhancement is somewhat dubious in Legacy of Kain canon as in the retail version of Defiance the Balance Emblem consists of only five fragments and it is explicitly completed with the discovery of the Time fragment.
